The Scarlet Pimpernel Blog Party Tag!!

Yay! A tag!

Here are the questions, and my answers:

1. The obvious question...how'd you get introduced to The Scarlet Pimpernel?
Blogs! Mostly Amy's. We got the book on Kindle and I devoured it :).

2. If you could meet any of the characters in real life, who would it be and why? (You can use the obvious choice of Sir Percy, but this is your chance to get creative ;))
Yeah, obviously Sir Percy, but otherwise maybe Suzanne, cos I think she's really nice, or one of the League guys, cos they're cool :).

3. What are your top three favourite quotes from the books/movies (yes, just three)?
"Sink me!"; (Haha, original, right?) [Sir Percy singing "God save the King" in revolutionary France;
and, oh...I can't think of another one...I need to read it again :)

4. Who is your favourite supporting character in the books? (Percy and Marguerite are ineligible)
Um, that's a hard one, seeing as I have only read the first book. I do quite like Suzanne.

5. Which film versions have you seen, and which do you like best?
I haven't seen any. But I really want to. The Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour one, of course :)

6. What's your top-absolute-favourite scene in the first book?
Um...I really like the scene in the inn in France when Percy outwits Chauvelin with the pepper-snuff. :)

7. If you could dream cast a new adaptation of the book (a period piece, that is), who would you choose to play the roles of Sir Percy, Marguerite and Chauvelin?
That's hard.
I would cast Aaron Tveit as Sir Percy; I'm not entirely sure why...But, Enjolras and Sir Percy do have some similarities, right?
Marguerite? No idea.
Chauvelin? I think maybe Geoffrey Rush. He could do a French villain. He played Javert in an inferior version of Les Mis.

8. Do you think the Scarlet Pimpernel does his work purely for "the love of sport," as the narrative would tell us (and as he would often claim), or does he have more noble motives that he won't admit? Explain your answer. Show your work.
I think he does have more noble motives, but he just won't admit it. He really wants to save people. I don't think he would endanger himself and others solely for sport, though it's probably a small part of it :)

9. Second to Chauvelin, who is the worst villain in the book series and why?
Having only read the first book, I cannot say.

10. What's the favourite novel in the series...?
See previous answer.

11. If you could change one thing about your favourite version of the movie, what would it be?
I haven't seen any. :(

12. Lastly, how would you convince a skeptical friend to read/watch TSP? What is it that you love about it?
It's really exciting and it has suspense and mystery, and it's not hard to read. Now read it. What do I love about it?? Two words. Sir Percy!! He's so funny, and clever, and brave, and all that.

Thanks for the tag, Amy!

If you want to see the tag, or any of the blog party excitement, just go here, and other recent posts on her blog.

The Janeite Tag

Edit: I recieved this tag a shockingly long time ago - it's finally here!]

My sister, Elizabethany, tagged me
for the Janeite Tag. Thanks, Beth!

[
I love this picture.

The Rules:
~Thank and link back to the person who tagged you.
~Tell how you were introduced to Jane Austen and share one fun fact about your Janeite life (this fun fact can be anywhere from "I stayed up all night reading Emma," to "I visited Chawton and met Anna Chancellor.").
~Answer the tagger's questions.
~Write seven questions of your own.
~Tag as few as one or as many as seven other Janeites and let them know you've tagged them.

I was introduced to Jane Austen via my first viewing of P&P95 at about age 10. Since then I have read P&P, Northanger Abbey, and most of S&S and parts of Emma.

Janeite Fun-fact: I plan to attend an English Country Dance in October; at another dance we danced a version of the dance Lizzy dances with Mr. Collins in P&P95. (My sister nick-named it "The Collins Caper"!)

Elizabethany's questions:

1. Who is your least favourite Jane Austen character and why?
That's a hard one. Maybe Willoughby or Wickham. Because they're both villains. But Willoughby more, because he broke Marianne's heart. :(

2. Where would you rather live: Pemberley or Donwell Abbey?
Probably Pemberley.
"I do not think I have ever seen a house more prettily situated." - Lizzy, P&P95

3. Which is your favourite of Austen's books?
I actually quite like Northanger Abbey.

4. If you could choose to invite 3 Jane Austen characters for tea, who would you choose and why?
Emma Woodhouse and Lizzy Bennet, because they're my two favourite Austen heroines, and Mr. Knightley, because he's one of my favourite Austen heroes. (And he's really funny)

5. If you were one of Austen's heroines, where would you choose to spend the summer: Bath, London, or Brighton?
London. I would LOVE to go to London!

6. Who do you think are the most sensible parents in Austen's novels?
I think Mr. & Mrs. Morland, from the ones I've read of.

7. Do you 'ship' any of the minor characters from the books/movies?
My sister and I once jokingly shipped Caroline Bingley and Officer Saunderson from P&P95!
And my sister invented Mr. Collin's cousin for Mary Bennet!

I am tagging whoever wants to do it :)

My questions for them:
1. How many of Austen's novels have you read?
2. Which Austen film do you like best?
3. Mr. Darcy or Mr. Knightley?
4. If you could visit either Jane Austen's house at Chawton, or the set of Pemberley in Pride & Prejudice, which would you chose?
5. Which is your favourite Austen quote?
6. If you could cast anyone to play Mr. Darcy in a dream cast Pride & Prejudice, who would it be?
7. Which Austen film costume is your favourite?

Tag. Again.

Evie was tagged with this tag and left it for any followers to do, so I decided to take it up!

Rules for this tag:
1.  Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
2. Put the Award logo on your blog.
3.  Answer the ten questions sent to you.
4.  Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
5.  Nominate ten blogs.

Evie's questions:

If you were going to write a book, what would you call it and what would it be about?
Ah. Yeah, well, I've tried countless times to write a book, but have never gotten past the first few chapters. I'm not much of a writer. If I could write, it might be a Les Mis fan-fic sequel.....called....something. I dunno.

What’s one of the scariest things you’ve ever done?
That's a hard one. I haven't done many scary things in my lifetime. I really don't know. The scariest thing would probably be performing a skit in front of 200+ plus, which isn't that scary, really.

If someone were to make a movie about your life, who would you hope would play you?
I'm not that particular as long as whoever it was looked like me and understood me and what I'm like. :)

What’s one of your favorite questions to ask new friends or to get a conversation going?
Have you heard of Les Miserables? Um, well, I might ask that, but I don't really know. Maybe "Do you like reading?" or some other such question relevant to who the person is or where we are.

If you could learn one random skill, what would you learn?
Knowing how to ride a unicycle would be cool.
Or one-handed clapping. :)

                                                                              Just 'cos.

                                                                                 Yeah.

Anyway...

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Somewhere in the middle, but more introvert.

Have you ever taken a personality test? (How did the results turn out?)
Only movie ones, in which I have been Lizzy Bennet and Aragorn, and I don't know who else.
Production picture from the BBC television production of Pride and Prejudice
Just a random pic there.

What’s your favorite part about today so far?
Ringing my BFF, because it's her birthday today! :)

Who in your life has influenced you the most? How did they do it?
My parents. For bringing me up and teaching me (almost) everything I know. (But then, they taught me to read, which then taught me most of everything else I know!) And they still are :)

What’s your favorite joke?
I don't really know if I have a favourite joke, to be honest. I always get stuck when asked for a joke.
But I like text-jokes, especially Les Mis ones.

Yeah, anyway....

Here are my questions:
1. When did you start blogging?
2. What's your current favourite song/piece of music?
3. Favourite movie?
4. What's the last book you read?
5. What are the two things on the top of your bucket list?
6.Who's your favourite child actor/movie character?
7.What's your favourite quote?
8.If you could spend two months in any country, where would it be?
9. If you could play any character in a musical, who would it be?
10. Would you rather go for a bike ride in the rain or a run when it's really hot?

I'll tag whoever sees this post and wants to do it!

So, anyway, signing off now.
I'll just add, if you have any ideas for future posts, questions, etc, please let me know in the comments!

The Bookshelf Tag

The Bookshelf Tag~Created by Natalie of Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens

Describe your bookshelf (or wherever it is you keep your books-it doesn't actually have to be a shelf!) and where you got it from:
I usually keep my books lined up on top of my drawers, though at the moment my sister and I have moved out of our room temporarily so we can (hopefully) do renovation. I have no idea they came from, though!

Do you have any special or different way of organizing your books?
No. I love Naomi's idea for organizing by colour, though!

What's the thickest (most amount of pages) book on your shelf?
The copy of Les Miserables I have out of the library at the moment.

What's the thinnest (least amount of pages) book on your shelf?
Wow, I don't know. I'll have to have a look.

Is there a book you received as a birthday gift?
Yes, Legend Led, by Amy Le Feuvre. I got it for my 6th or 7th birthday - I don't think I've even read it all!

What's the smallest (height and width wise) book on your shelf?
Probably the tiny baby album with photos of me and my older sister as babies.

What's the biggest (height and width wise) book on your shelf?
Well, the tallest book I own would be the Encyclopedia of the Future (a technology book), and the widest would be Les Miserables.

Is there a book from a friend on your shelf?
I don't think so.

Most expensive book?
Wow. Um, I have no idea.....most of them I either was given, won, or bought second hand, so I don't know.

The last book you read on your shelf?
The Third Door, by Emily Rodda, and Cannibal Adventure by Willard Price (it's not as bad as it sounds, I wrote about his series here) :), both of which I am currently reading.

Of all the books on your shelf, which was the first you read?
Whoa. I think the first book I owned was Sir Gibbie , a book I got when I was younger,  for Sunday School.

Do you have more than one copy of a book?
I don't think so, no.

Do you have the complete series of any book series?
No.

What's the newest addition to your shelf?
Of  my own, Persuasion - I got it at the reading program at the library - I've gotten about a dozen or so books from there over the last few years.

What book has been on your shelf FOREVER?
My Bible - it's over 7 years old.

What's the most recently published book on your shelf?
Again, probably the above copy of Persuasion - that version was printed just last year. Otherwise, probably The Forgotten Pearl, an Australian WWII story, which was first published 2012/2013.

The oldest book on your shelf (as in, the actual copy is old)?
A second-hand Willard Price book, not sure which one it is.

A book you won?
Wow, um any of the ones I got for the library reading program, does that count?? These include three Willard Price, Persuasion, The Forgotten Pearl, Kezzie's War, and others.

A book you'd hate to let out of your sight (aka a book you never let someone borrow)?
Don't know.

Most beat up book?
They're actually all in pretty good nick - maybe one of the second-hand ones, like the collection of horse stories.

Most pristine book?
Persuasion, it's the newest.

A book from your childhood?
Legend Led.

A book that's not actually your book?
Les Miserables (which is almost my book; it's a library book, but it's in the stack, and no one else ever gets it out.)

A book with a special/different cover (e.g. leather bound, soft fuzzy cover etc.)?
Um, my Bible has a blue carry sort of cover with a pocket.

A book that is your favorite color?
Aforementioned cover is blue, or The Forgotten Pearl is green. (My two favourite colours.)

Book that's been on your shelf the longest that you STILL haven't read?
Probably Nobody's Girl, another Sunday School one I never found very interesting.

Any signed books?
No. :(

Thankyou Natalie, for that lovely tag! Feel free to do it yourself - if you follow my link to her post up top you can scroll to the bottom of her post and copy the questions. :)

Les Mis Tag!!

I've created my own tag!

The Les Miserables Tag!

So, here's how it goes...

THE RULES
~Link back to the person who tagged you
~Link back to this post, and post the Tag picture (above^)
~Answer the questions
~Tag as many or as few people as you like, and notify them that they've been tagged
~Have fun doing it!

THE QUESTIONS
1. How did you discover Les Miserables?
2. How many versions have you seen? (ie: live, movie, and which)
3. Who is your favourite character? (If you're like me you can't decide - maximum of 3 people :))
4. Have you read the book? Which translation? Have you read different translations?
5. How many Jean Valjeans have you seen, and if you've seen more than one, which was better? (ie: I have seen Liam Neeson and Hugh Jackman)

Which song makes you
6. cry the most?
7. most happy?
8. most excited?
9. most nail-bitingly tense?

10. What do you think is the best thing about the fandom?

MY ANSWERS
1. I first heard of it when I was much younger and said it "Lez mizribills", when I saw ads on tv or whatever. I discovered it through Amy's blog, and when we saw the DVD (2012) for sale, Mum bought it, and I started reading blog posts, looking at pictures, gaining in anticipation :). I watched the 2012 movie early 2014 (March, I think), and loved it. It escalated from there :).

2. I have seen the 2012 movie, then later last year I saw the 1998 film with Liam Neeson and Claire Danes. (Read my review of it here) I have also seen snippets of various stage versions (a couple of ECAETs, as I say in this post).

3. My favourite characters are probably Marius, Enjolras and Eponine (closely followed by Gavroche, Jehan and Jean Valjean, more or less). :)

4. I have read some of the Isabel F. Hapgood translation and am currently working my way (slowly) through the Norman Denny translation.

5. I have seen Liam Neeson in the 1998 movie and Hugh Jackman in the 2012 movie. I think they were both pretty accurate. But I like Hugh Jackman better, 'cos the 2012 one is waaaaaaaay better, and not just 'cos it's a musical :)

6. I cry the most at Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, because Eddie's version is soooo good (and way better than Nick Jonas's). He shows the emotion so well - it's just so sad.......
The other one would be the Epilogue, because  by that time I can't stand much more emotional trauma (especially when you watch it with your sis and BFF). :)

7. The Finale makes me happy in a smiling-through-the-tears-it's-okay-it's-over kind of way :). Also, it's nice to see everyone again :)

Also Red and Black.
And this bit:

8. The convicts' Look Down is always exciting, but probably because 'cos the movie's beginning and also 'cos it's epic.

The scene that makes me most excited would probably be Paris Look Down, though - like squeally jump-up-and-down fan-girl excited.

9. Do You Hear the People Sing is always tense, and the barricade scenes, especially Night of Anguish/Dawn of Anguish give me chills. *shiver*

10. My favourite thing about the fandom, aside from the random bursting-into-song, pictures, blog posts, etc., would probably be the fan fiction :)

And then, of course, there's the what-if-they-all-lived-and-won-the-revolution fan-fic. :)

I am tagging:

So, there you have it!
