Tag. Again.

Evie was tagged with this tag and left it for any followers to do, so I decided to take it up!

Rules for this tag:
1.  Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
2. Put the Award logo on your blog.
3.  Answer the ten questions sent to you.
4.  Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
5.  Nominate ten blogs.

Evie's questions:

If you were going to write a book, what would you call it and what would it be about?
Ah. Yeah, well, I've tried countless times to write a book, but have never gotten past the first few chapters. I'm not much of a writer. If I could write, it might be a Les Mis fan-fic sequel.....called....something. I dunno.

What’s one of the scariest things you’ve ever done?
That's a hard one. I haven't done many scary things in my lifetime. I really don't know. The scariest thing would probably be performing a skit in front of 200+ plus, which isn't that scary, really.

If someone were to make a movie about your life, who would you hope would play you?
I'm not that particular as long as whoever it was looked like me and understood me and what I'm like. :)

What’s one of your favorite questions to ask new friends or to get a conversation going?
Have you heard of Les Miserables? Um, well, I might ask that, but I don't really know. Maybe "Do you like reading?" or some other such question relevant to who the person is or where we are.

If you could learn one random skill, what would you learn?
Knowing how to ride a unicycle would be cool.
Or one-handed clapping. :)

                                                                              Just 'cos.

                                                                                 Yeah.

Anyway...

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Somewhere in the middle, but more introvert.

Have you ever taken a personality test? (How did the results turn out?)
Only movie ones, in which I have been Lizzy Bennet and Aragorn, and I don't know who else.
Production picture from the BBC television production of Pride and Prejudice
Just a random pic there.

What’s your favorite part about today so far?
Ringing my BFF, because it's her birthday today! :)

Who in your life has influenced you the most? How did they do it?
My parents. For bringing me up and teaching me (almost) everything I know. (But then, they taught me to read, which then taught me most of everything else I know!) And they still are :)

What’s your favorite joke?
I don't really know if I have a favourite joke, to be honest. I always get stuck when asked for a joke.
But I like text-jokes, especially Les Mis ones.

Yeah, anyway....

Here are my questions:
1. When did you start blogging?
2. What's your current favourite song/piece of music?
3. Favourite movie?
4. What's the last book you read?
5. What are the two things on the top of your bucket list?
6.Who's your favourite child actor/movie character?
7.What's your favourite quote?
8.If you could spend two months in any country, where would it be?
9. If you could play any character in a musical, who would it be?
10. Would you rather go for a bike ride in the rain or a run when it's really hot?

I'll tag whoever sees this post and wants to do it!

So, anyway, signing off now.
I'll just add, if you have any ideas for future posts, questions, etc, please let me know in the comments!

Happy Barricade Day!

It's Barricade Day! (I named it that - more or less)

Today is the 6th of June. (The date of this post will say the 5th, but where I live it is actually the 6th).
The anniversary of the June Rebellion
in France, told of in Les Miserables. (If you like history, or just this topic in general, check out the wikipedia page on it here. There are links in that article to Victor Hugo, General Lamarque....(on an extra side note, they also have articles on the ABC and Enjolras, Gavroche, Jean Valjean.... - I was inpressed!))

Anyway, 183 years ago today, the June Rebellion took place in Paris, France.

If you go by the Les Miserables calendar, yesterday was Lamarque Day (also my own naming),
the day of Lamarque's funeral and the beginning of the rebellion (Do You Hear the People Sing and Night of Anguish)

Today is Barricade Day (Dawn of Anguish, The Final Battle, etc.)

(Have you SEEN this gif?!^ *chills*)

Anyway, I am resolved not to post any more depressing pictures, but instead, I've decided to give you some links you might find interesting, of some great Les Mis articles and posts you might like to read, if you're in that sort of mood, like I am.

I will now add in random Mis-related pictures as I go.

Anyway, I'm off - happy Barricade Day!

Yes, I just felt like adding this one again.

Short and weird update.

At the moment I'm really into:

~Coffee. Anyone who knows  me really well will know that I have never liked coffee, and have always been a tea-drinker. Since my sister, who works at a cafe, got hooked, she's converted me.....I like it a lot. Especially Cafe Bombon, which is espresso made with sweetened condensed milk! So good.

~LOTR, especially The Return of the King. I love it!! I never enjoyed the books, but now I'm quite interested in the story, especially the movies' untold stories, like Eowyn and Faramir.

~"Our Zoo", the new British TV series. I love it! It's post WWI, and full of nice costumes, wonderful accents and funny characters.

And.....the doctor, Doctor Ford, who we always remarked reminded us very much of Joly, I just discovered, actually IS potrayed by that actor, Hugh Skinner!

He's hilarious!

And the scenery and locations are beautiful!

But, seriously, if you get then chance, watch it - it's so good. I've seen the first four out of six episodes. I shall attempt to write a review when we're done.

Anyway, I have to go, apologies for the lack of interesting-ness in my posts (mostly updates) lately....
Will try to improve that!

In which I do a snippet review of a fraction of a movie that I didn't like much.

Left to right: Javert, Eponine and Jean Valjean

I am speaking of Les Miserables (2000). A bit newer than I thought it was, it looked soooo old.
To be perfectly honest, I would almost rather have not watched it.

It's in two parts and is 172 minutes long, so we didn't watch all of it, but I'd seen enough. Really.
Clockwise from top left: Eponine, Marius and Cosette, Javert, Valjean

I'll go through the characters and what I thought of them.
Jean Valjean as we first see him.

He was portrayed very well, from what I saw. Oh, one note - they did the French accents. Which took a while to get used to after the British (which I actually prefer).

I don't really have much else to say about him, except it appears he clearly wasn't underfed in prison.

Also, the soldiers uniforms are the same as in the 2012 version - must be authentic.
And yes, I will use every opportunity to sneak a 2012 picture in here.

Javert. Ugh. He looks like someone of Harry Potter. And whenever he talks, he makes me think of someone out of Kid Snippets. He also looks like one of them. His voice is kind of weird.

Apart from that, he was an okay Javert from what I could see. Keeping in my that I didn't see all of it.
Marius. *deep-breath* My fave character in the whole movie! (please note sarcasm)
His entrance in the movie......I thought "No, that's not Marius!!!!!.....Oh great, it is."
I basically hyperventilated did not like it. :) *sweet smile*
There is an extreme of photos for this version.

He basically waltzed up and said "Excuse me - I come here every day, and I have never seen you before." Not.Marius.

Plus, he's creepy. Especially when he suggests climbing over the gate so he can get into the garden.
Ugh, still no good pictures.
Cosette, briefly, was pretty good. I liked her. We didn't catch Fantine or little Cosette, but we saw the Thenardiers. So-so.
What I liked was that they included the scene in the garret with Valjean and the Patron Minette, which we saw some of.
Eponine. She was a little frightening. More book-accurate, perhaps, but she had some evil looks. I didn't really like her.
Ah, now Les Amis de la'Abc!!
They had an Enjolras!!! By name AND by role!
(That's him with the lighter hair)

He was very good! He was sort of replacing Courf as well, in that he spoke to Marius about Cosette, etc., so that wasn't so accurate, but he was okay otherwise.

Oh look, there's a cow! I said every opportunity, guys - it's Enjolras!

Ahem, anyway...
Gavroche - yay!
I'm pretty sure this is him - it is the only picture I could find!
He was good - a better age, maybe - and had several book lines which I loved:
-"Gavroche, come back!"
-"I am doing my shopping!"
He identified Javert. he asked for a big gun.
"Now my dead men are getting shot!"
AND, he even sang the Voltaire and Rousseau song in French!
......but, Dan's Gav was cuter :)
We didn't get to see the end, and I'd still like to finish it sometime, so I might update if I watch the rest. :)
Sorry about the random-ness of this post - it really was a snippet review, but oh well.

"Marius, Combeferre just sent me a text, he wants to meet at the cafe after."
That's what it looks like, anyway. :)

I will leave you with a few pictures of the way-better-version. :)

Grantaire with a cup in his hand!!!! So does Enjo, but whatever.

Au revoir, and have a lovely day!
